Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by her parents in honor of the town in which she grew as a child. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father was born into the Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with their children into Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven. There, they didn't have electricity. Ryder read a lot due to the absence of television. Ryder was 12 when she enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in the year 1983.
